EMR - The Health Crisis of our Time

This is a fascinating interview with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt PhD about Smart Meters and "EMR - The Health Crisis of our Time".  Dr. Klinghardt refers to EMR as the catalyst of many diseases of our generation, from Autism to Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome - all exacerbated by the wireless revolution.

"Based upon a study of 10 autistic cases and 10 normal cases, the pregnant mothers who gave birth to autistic children slept in a location in which microwave radiation was 20.7x HIGHER, on average, than pregnant mothers who gave birth to non-autistic children."

Mobile phones and brain tumours - the terrible truth

Sweden have been doing some promising research into the relationship between mobile phones and brain tumours.  The Department of Oncology, University Hospital, Orebro, Sweden, have published a number of studies each of which show tangible evidence of the dangers of EMF radiation from mobile phones.

In one report they found “that case-control studies on adults point to an increased risk of brain tumours (glioma and acoustic neuroma) associated with the long-term use of mobile phones. Recently, the first study on mobile phone use and the risk of brain tumours in children and adolescents, CEFALO, was published. It has been claimed that this relatively small study yielded reassuring results of no increased risk. We do not agree. We consider that the data contain several indications of increased risk, despite low exposure, short latency period, and limitations in the study design, analyses and interpretation. The information certainly cannot be used as reassuring evidence against an association, for reasons that we discuss in this commentary”.

One cohort study of the association between use of mobile and cordless phones and malignant brain tumours found an increased risk was found for glioma and use of mobile or cordless phone. The risk increased with latency time and cumulative use in hours and was highest in subjects with first use before the age of 20.

Another study was made to evaluate brain tumour risk among long-term users of cellular telephones.  It found that patients using a mobile phone for ten years or more give a consistent pattern of increased risk for acoustic neuroma and glioma.

And finally the Department of Experimental Biomedical Sciences, Medical School of Padova, Padova, Italy made a study of the relationship between use of mobile phones (analogue and digital cellulars, and cordless) and head tumour risk (brain tumours, acoustic neuromas, and salivary gland tumours).  They found that analysis of the literature studies and of the results from meta-analyses of the significant data alone shows an almost doubling of the risk of head tumours induced by long-term mobile phone use or latency.

Important facts about mobile phones and radiation

Here are a few important facts about mobile phones

5 billion - The number of mobile phones in use around the world.

50% - The 10-year rise in tumours located in areas of the brain most vulnerable to mobile phone radiation.

25mm - The distance that BlackBerry recommends keeping its phones away from the body.

16 - The age under which people are advised by the NHS to keep mobile use to a minimum.

Most (97-99%) of the radiofrequency electromagnetic energy RFE emitted by mobile phones is absorbed in the hemisphere of the brain where the phone is held, with 50-60% absorbed by the temporal lobe2 which is situated closest to the ear.

Brain cancer rates in USA have increased by 25% since 1975. In 2001, 185,000 Americans were diagnosed with some form of brain cancer. A grade four brain tumor can grow from the size of a grape to tennis ball size in just 4 months.

Always read the small print: Official advice
Research is split on whether mobile phones pose a health hazard or not. Buried in the small print, companies already issue precautionary advice.

BlackBerry
BlackBerry's booklet states: "Use hands-free operation if available and keep the BlackBerry device at least 0.98in (25mm) from your body (including the abdomen of pregnant women and the lower abdomen of teenagers) when the BlackBerry is turned on and connected to the wireless network... reduce the amount of time spent on calls."

iPhone
The iPhone4 guide says: "...when using the iPhone near your body for voice calls or wireless data transmission over a cellular network, keep it at least 5/8inch (15mm) away from the body, and only use carrying cases, belt clips or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 5/8inch (15mm) separation between iPhone and the body."

UK Department of Health
A spokeswoman says: "As a precaution children should only use mobile phones for essential purposes and keep all calls short. We keep all scientific evidence under review."

Belgium leads the way in combatting EMF

Belgium is known for many things; waffles, chocolate, beer and the Smurfs.  Three out of four can’t be bad!

But they are also leading the way in Europe in the initiative to combat EMF radiation from mobile phones.

Didier Bellens, president of Begacom, Belgium's largest mobile phone company, has banned WiFi technology on the 27th floor of the company's skyscraper, occupied by management. He also asks people to phone him on his landline rather than his mobile.

In a meeting with schoolchildren, in December this year, he spoke to them about the dangers of using mobiles to access the Internet. He explains that GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is dangerous - (Sudpresse - 25/11/2011), a threat to health. He continues "During the day, it is better to use a headset because the GSM, it heats. The waves are dangerous. At night, it is better to shut it off. If you use your phone as an alarm clock, you should also turn it off."

And now Belgium has also banned the sale of mobile phones specifically designed for young children up to the age of 7.

In February 2013, the Belgian Public Health Minister, Laurette Onkelinx announced that mobile phones sale to under 7s will be banned in shops and on the Internet, because of the dangers of radiation. The 2012 report of the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) considers that RF exposure (such as from mobile phones) is "possibly carcinogenic for humans". "If a risk exists, protection is necessary," declared Laurette Onkelinx, to RTBF. This is her initiative, along with that of her colleague in charge of consumer protection, Johan Vande Lanotte.

It is not easy to see how this will be enforced, as the sales will obviously be made to adults, and will only remove the phones that are being sold especially aimed at the very young end of the market. Adults will still be able to buy phones for the under 7s.
Adverts during children's programmes on TV, radio and the Internet will be banned. This is a practical possibility, and could easily be done in other countries.

Research shows that in Belgium two out of three children under 10 years have a mobile phone. At 12 years they nearly all have one.

The Minister for Health has also announced the drafting, between now and the end of the year, of another legislative measure aimed at rendering obligatory the sale of a headset with mobile phones.

Now if only the rest of Europe would follow suit!

I'm still not sure about the Smurfs though?

Is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy dangerous?

In my last post I posed the question, "Is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy dangerous?" and in this post I hope to answer this question with a simple Yes or No answer. To start this though, I should explain what Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (Forever now known as PEMF to save my sanity...) is and how it works.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields have always existed, in fact the Earth is constantly generating one, in basis, we are always exposed to a pulsating field of electromagnetic energy. However, due to the broad spectrum of other Electromagnetic Fields that currently inhabit the air; the effects of the PEMF are lost in so much "Static Electromagnetic energy". For a large amount of human history, we were unaware of the benefits this PEMF was generating, the realization dawned on scientists after the first few successful space missions due to the effects that extended time in space were having on astronauts.

Upon return to earth, many astronauts were noted with symptoms of depression, bone loss, decreased metabolism, impaired perception and muscle degeneration. Initially, Scientists were baffled; with nothing to work with they could not explain what was causing these rather extreme symptoms. After a period of extensive study however, it came to light that the PEMF created by the earth was integral to the well being of the human body. It was shown that the Earths magnetism is essential in the upkeep of our body’s cells, helping to maintain the cellular health. Without it, symptoms like chronic fatigue and exhaustion can become commonplace, meaning that we need regular exposure to PEMF.

However, as I stated earlier, the earths PEMF is mostly lost in the mass of Electromagnetic fields we have created with modern technology, so scientists realized we needed to find an alternate means to increase our exposure to PEMF's. Through this, came the very first PEMF device, which according to Scientists would carry the following benefits:
  • Improves sleeping patterns, allowing for a deeper, more restful sleep.
  • Aids in Nerve regeneration if they are damaged.
  • Helps to detoxify the body.
  • Enhances the body’s natural resistances by boosting the white cell count in the body.
  • Increases Bone density.
  • Increases pain threshold.
  • Helps the body to close wounds at an advanced rate.
  • Enhances circulation.
  • Improves mental clarity.
How does the PEMF machine work then? As each pulse of electromagnetic energy runs through the body, it improves the cells micro-circulation, simultaneously increasing the blood flow and amount of oxygen available to each cell, which in turn improves the electron transport chain efficiency. In turn this causes the ATP in cells to increase, making them function at optimal levels, making the body expel toxins, absorb nutrients and produce more energy.

As you can see, the potential benefits from this treatment perfectly combats the symptoms many of the Astronauts claimed to be suffering from when being away from earth for extended periods of time. So perhaps, these devices are the way forward? Perhaps, but first, are there any side effects and is it safe?

As a large plus for the therapy, there are no recorded Side effects of PEMF therapy; however it is advised if you fit any of the following descriptions, that you should not use PEMF:
  • If you are pregnant.
  • If you posses any organ transplants.
  • If you have a pacemaker or any other electrical implants.
Or, if you fit any of these descriptions, you should check with your Doctor before using a PEMF device:
  • If you suffer from epilepsy.
  • If you suffer from any serious fungal or bacterial infections.
  • Running a Fever higher than 100.5 Degrees Fahrenheit (38 Degrees Celsius)
Secondly, it has been proven that a PEMF has no adverse effects on the human body regardless of age, so it is safe to use on young children and babies. However, many patients have claimed feelings of discomfort for the first time they use PEMF therapy, but rest assured that this feeling is purely due to the detoxification effects of the PEMF which leaves and uncomfortable feeling as toxins are expelled.

Speaking of how you may feel when receiving PEMF therapy, most people claim to feel nothing, however do not be surprised if you feel a slight tingling sensation from the electrical static produced by the PEMF. Others have claimed that whilst receiving PEMF treatment the experienced stress relief as the treatment progressed, so if you are a highly stressed individual (Like myself) this may just be the thing for you.

As a side note, if you do choose to use PEMF therapy, many experts recommend drinking water before and after the therapy, so as when your body begins to expel toxins, it will not mistakenly reabsorb them in place of other cells that the water can provide.

So now I can return to the question I posed at the beginning of this article, "Is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy dangerous?" In short, No. From all the evidence I have seen and read, there seems to be no immediate damage caused by PEMF. If in fact, this is just an artificially recreated version of the Earths own Pulsed Electromagnetic Field, then I can understand why we aren't being damaged by it; after all we did evolve under its effects.

However, simply because I haven't found a negative to PEMF treatment, it doesn't mean there isn't one, it simply means I couldn't find it. But for now, it looks like a simple way to help your body recharge and work at an optimal level, so I will not boycott it. If you do choose to use it, please leave a comment or let me know how you got on, I'd love to hear from you!
